About the role...

Do you get satisfaction out of all things data?

Interested in pushing your career to the next level at one of the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For?

Cooper Parry are seeking a skilled and proactive Data Engineer to join our growing Data & Analytics team. You will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable data infrastructure on the Azure and Microsoft stack, enabling enterprise-wide analytics, reporting, and data science initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the foundation of our future “lab and factory” model of analytics and ML delivery.

A day in the life of a CP Data Engineer…

  • Design and build end-to-end data pipelines and integrations using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse and related tools
  • Monitor data pipeline schedules and resolve issues related to job failures, data delays, or quality problems
  • Develop and support a Lakehouse architecture, including structured and unstructured data ingestion, processing, and consumption layers
  • Implement and optimise semantic models for Power BI and support self-service analytics across CP
  • Support the development of a secure and scalable analytics lab environment for advanced analytics and ML experimentation
  • Work with the team to implement data architecture principles and best practices across our platform
  • Ensure robust CI/CD processes, monitoring, and alerting for data pipelines to ensure performance, reliability, and data quality
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, and analysts to deliver clean, curated datasets and data products
  • Contribute to data governance, metadata management, and data cataloguing initiatives

Cooper Parry is a company that is always focused on optimisation and looking at new ways to improve how we do what we do, to enable this you will explore and recommend emerging tools and technologies to support a modern, scalable data ecosystem.

About you...

At Cooper Parry, we’re in it together. All we ask of our people is that they play all in. You’ll continuously strive to keep learning – whether you’re a trainee or a Partner – and you’ll be brave, stepping out of your comfort zone to tackle new challenges. Above all, be nice. A simple notion, but an irreplaceable part of what makes CP, CP.

As a Data Engineer, you will work cross-functionally in a hybrid business/technical team, so strong communication is a must. Of course you'll need an understanding of data pipeline monitoring, alerting, and observability best practices.

You also need:

  • Proven experience in a Data Engineering role within enterprise environments
  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing and maintaining complex data pipelines using Azure Data Services. (Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Azure Functions)
  • Experience integrating and transforming data from various sources such as Legacy Systems, Restful APIs, Flat files
  • Knowledge of modern data architectures: Data warehouse, Lakehouse, Data Lake
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI, semantic modelling, and DAX
  • Strong SQL and data manipulation skills. Exposure to Python and PySpark is required.
  • Experience working with open data formats like Delta Lake, Parquet, Json, Csv.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (e.g., Git), and deployment automation tools

Bonus points if you have:

  • Exposure to MuleSoft or other API integration tools
  • Experience in data governance, data cataloguing, and privacy/security in cloud data environments
  • Understanding of business domains such as professional services or financial services
  • Experience designing or supporting environments for advanced analytics or ML, including collaborative analytics “labs”
