About the role...

At Cooper Parry, we’re not your typical accountancy firm. We’re bold, people-first, and on a mission to disrupt the industry. As the UK’s largest accountancy B Corp, we’re committed to making life count—for our people, our clients, and the planet.

Our Tax Advisory team is growing, and we’re looking for a technically strong Assistant Manager who’s passionate about delivering high-impact advice to ambitious businesses and their owners particularly as they embark on M&A transactions.

What You’ll Be Doing...

  • Advising clients on a wide range of corporate and shareholder tax matters, with a focus on M&A transactions and strategic tax planning
  • Supporting on a wide range of M&A; transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, MBOs, shareholder tax planning on disposals and private equity deals
  • Working closely with clients, legal advisors, and internal teams to deliver clear, commercial tax advice
  • Drafting tax reports and presenting recommendations to stakeholders
  • Preparing tax clearance applications to HMRC
  • Mentoring junior team members and reviewing their work
  • Staying up to date with tax legislation and applying it to real-world scenarios
  • Researching tax legislation and providing conclusions and recommendations
  • Project managing the involvement of specialist tax teams, such as business tax, VAT, R&D, employment taxes etc.

No day the same – one day you may be advising a business or Private Equity on its acquisition of a company, contributing to tax due diligence, advising on the structure; on another day you may be advising shareholders as they sell their business or management teams on their own tax position as their investors look to exit. This is an exciting role where you can gain lots of valuable experience and exposure. So make sure you apply and don't miss out.

About you...

At Cooper Parry, we’re in it together. All we ask of our people is that they play all in. You’ll continuously strive to keep learning – whether you’re a trainee or a Partner – and you’ll be brave, stepping out of your comfort zone to tackle new challenges. Above all, be nice. A simple notion, but an irreplaceable part of what makes CP, CP.

In addition, you'll really shine in this role if you are:

  • CTA or ATT qualified (or equivalent)
  • Experienced in tax advisory or M&A-related tax work is preferred, whether corporate or shareholder tax related or other
  • Candidates without direct M&A experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong technical tax skills and a passion for advisory work
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax issues clearly
  • A proactive, curious mindset and a desire to challenge the status quo
